This policy describes how the Ecomly — AI Product Content app, built by EcomLabs, handles data when installed on a Shopify store. It supplements the general apps privacy policy.
Data the app accesses
The app accesses only the product data needed to draft and update content, via the Shopify scopes you approve at install:
- Product data: titles, descriptions, bullets, SEO metadata, image alt text and related metafields.
- Store context you provide: brand description, tone and language.
The app does not request or need personal customer data or payment information for its function.
How data is used
Product data is used to generate content drafts that you review. Changes are written to your store only when you approve and apply them. Before applying, a backup of the previous content is saved so changes can be reverted.
AI and subprocessors
To generate drafts, the app sends the selected product data to an AI model provider that processes it on our behalf to produce the text. We use that provider solely for this purpose and under appropriate agreements. Your data is not used to train third-party models where the provider allows that to be disabled.
Retention and deletion
We keep backups and configuration data only while the app is installed or as needed for its function. On uninstall, associated data is deleted in line with Shopify's redaction requests.
Compliance webhooks
The app implements Shopify's mandatory webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact) with HMAC verification.
Your data is yours
We do not sell your data or your store's content. You retain ownership of all product content.
