Overview
Not every apparel business needs a checkout before it needs a catalog. This is the catalog: a Next.js application with products, variants and images in its own PostgreSQL schema through Prisma, an admin behind token authentication, and image delivery handled by a media service rather than by shipping full-size photographs to a phone. The enquiry route is WhatsApp, which is where the sale actually happens for this kind of business — so the application is built around producing a good message rather than around a cart it would not use.
This EcomLabs product is in active development; a public URL is not yet available.
What EcomLabs did
- Built the catalog application in Next.js with products, variants and media in Prisma and PostgreSQL.
- Built the admin behind token authentication, so the catalog is edited rather than redeployed.
- Moved image delivery to a media service with transformations, instead of serving originals.
- Made the enquiry route a prefilled WhatsApp message carrying the product it came from.
- Containerised the application and set up its deployment.
